It's Friday night when I start this post, and I just got back from the Peppermill with a small loss at the $1/$2 game. I did a Running Log of the session that I will publish later.
This was my 5th losing session in a row, and I'm 2-8 in my last 10 sessions (9 NL and 1 Limit).
If you think this will be a post about me whining and complaining about "Running Bad", guess again. The term "Running Bad" is not part of my vocabulary. Ups and Downs are part of the game of Poker. I've been though various cold streaks in the few years that I've been playing. Learning to deal with them is part of the game. I definitely haven't play Perfect Poker in my last 10 sessions, but my Luck Factor is certainly on the Negative side.
Poker has always had the Luck vs Skill debate. Here is my saying about this topic: "The Skill in Poker is winning more when Luck is good, and losing less when Luck is bad."
The total for my eight losing sessions is -$1137, which averages out to -$142.13. The largest was -$236. My two winning sessions were $187 and $824 for a total of $1011. So my "Running Bad" streak of 2-8 means that I've lost $126 overall, or $12.60 per session.
I think that would qualify as "losing less when Luck is bad."

Glad to hear you are keeping your head on strait. I spewed 14 buy ins yesterday and I am still up on the month. I think people forget long term does not mean a week or even a month. Have you ever had a losing month playing live?
Do you ever play online? (sorry if you awnsered this in your blog I am new to reading it)
As a part-time, recreational player, I was only playing 1-3 days a week. I never really kept track of winning or losing months.
But now that I'm in Reno, and playing more regularly, I could keep track of months. But this month isn't looking good, as I lost #6 in a row last night.
Plus, I play tournaments and some other casino games. So I may have a winning month at $1/$2, but be down in Limit Hold'em and not cash in any tournaments.
As for whether I play Online, the short answer is No.
The long answer is I play very rarely because is bores the crap out of me. After about an hour, I get bored and quit. Live Poker is so much more enjoyable.
When I do fire up Stars or Cake, I will play Limit Omaha-8 or Limit Hold'em. I think Limit Poker is better suited for Online because it's more Math based.
I don't play NLHE online because 6-max Online is a completely different game than 10-handed Live. I'm sure that Online players read my Running Logs or Hands Of The Day, and think "What are these people thinking?"
